Over het museum

The Blatské muzeum is a branch and specialist workplace of the Hussite Museum in Tábor. It focuses on the nature, history and ethnography of the Tábor region, especially the areas around Soběslav and Veselí nad Lužnicí, and is housed in three historic houses: the Rožmberk House and the Smrček House in Soběslav, and the Weis House in Veselí nad Lužnicí.

The Rožmberk House has the exhibitions Nature of the Tábor Region and Soběslav – Town of the Five-Petalled Rose. In the Smrček House visitors can learn about life in the Blata and Kozácko regions, the landscape of the Tábor region in fine art, Otakar Ostrčil and Soběslav, and the Soběslav coin hoard. The Weis House in Veselí nad Lužnicí has the exhibitions Life in the Town and Karel Weis and the Blata, as well as a model railway layout.

The museum organises exhibitions, lectures, excursions, concerts, courses in folk crafts and the Museum Night, and offers educational programmes for nursery and primary schools. A library and research services are also available.
