Over het museum
The municipal museum in Náměšť nad Oslavou was re-established in the town in 2004. It is run by the Městské kulturní středisko Náměšť nad Oslavou (municipal cultural center). Until now visitors have had two permanent exhibitions to see.
The first of them commemorates the Náměšť photographer and stationer Ondřej Knoll (1883–1960). His photographs have been known since 1906; they mainly capture south-western and western Moravia, and he also published postcards based on them. Today they are appreciated as artistic photography.
The second exhibition, Papírníkova tiskárna (Papírník's Printing Works), is designed as a printing workshop with historical machines and tools. The equipment was donated to the town by the printer and chronicler Jiří Papírník, whose father Vilém began practicing the printing trade in Náměšť in 1926. Visitors could follow the entire process from typesetting to bookbinding. Both exhibitions are now closed for reconstruction.
