Over het museum
The Muzeum Českých drah (Czech Railways Museum) in Olomouc is housed in the former engine shed of 1950 in the Olomouc district of Hodolany, not far from the main station. It was officially founded in 2012 as a branch of the Railway Museum in Lužná u Rakovníka, which belongs to Czech Railways (České dráhy).
The collection consists of historic rail vehicles, among which stands out the steam locomotive 314.303 from 1898, the oldest still operational locomotive of the Emperor Ferdinand Northern Railway, and the steam locomotive 464.202, nicknamed Rosnička, from 1956. Also on display are the Kredenc railcar from 1950, the Bobina electric locomotive from 1958 and a model railway layout.
The site includes an outdoor turntable. The depository is open to the public only a few times a year, at dates announced in advance, usually together with rides on historic vehicles.

The prices stated apply to the autumn opening on 17 October 2026; prices may differ at individual openings (at the spring opening on 28 March 2026 admission cost CZK 80 and reduced admission CZK 40). Rides on historic vehicles are paid separately.
