Museum in the old school at Jizerka with exhibitions on life in the Jizera Mountains, glassmaking and nature, run by ČSOP (Czech Union for Nature Conservation).

Over het museum
The building at Jizerka was constructed in 1889 as a school for the children of local residents. At the height of the settlement, more than 400 people lived here, mainly glassworkers, timber workers, craftsmen and traders. After the end of glass production in the 1920s, the number of pupils fell, but the school continued to operate until 1962.
In the 1950s the building housed the local national committee and a grocery shop; later it was converted into a recreational facility, which also provided space for the Mountain Rescue Service and the State Nature Protection. In 1989 the building was bought by the district committee of ČSOP in Jablonec nad Nisou and handed over to the Jizerka local group.
In 1994 an information centre opened with the exhibition Stará tvář Jizerských hor (The Old Face of the Jizera Mountains), based on a script by Miloslav Nevrlý and developed in cooperation with the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec and the Museum of Glass and Bijouterie in Jablonec nad Nisou. In 1996 exhibitions on glassmaking and on life in the Jizera Mountains were added. The building needs renovation, and the association is collecting donations for it.
