Over het museum

The Bory Municipal Museum was solemnly opened in December 2007. It was founded by the local enthusiasts Blanka Křížová and Jana Vaverková, and it is owned by the municipality of Bory. Most of the collections consist of gifts from local residents. Initially it was housed in two rooms of the municipal office building; in 2016 it moved to the hall of the former community house, later a nursery school, in Dolní Bory.

The exhibition recalls the crafts of the village and household furnishings from the early 20th century. The mineralogical collection has a special place, because the area around Bory is an important mineralogical locality. The history of the defunct Hatě mine is also mentioned. The collection also includes photographs of cut tourmalines, donated to the museum by a private donor, and the new Bory folk costume, presented to the public in 2015.

The museum has no fixed opening hours. It is opened occasionally, especially at fairs (pouť), at Easter and Christmas and during the thematic exhibitions it organises; otherwise a visit is possible by telephone arrangement. The museum is listed on the map of museums and galleries of the Vysočina Region.
