Over het museum

The two-storey, double-sided infantry bunker OP-S 25 U Trigonometru was concreted at the beginning of May 1938 to the third degree of resistance, as part of the Opava section of the Czechoslovak fortifications. It survived the war without major damage. In 1988 the then Museum of Revolutionary Struggles in Ostrava removed its original fortress cannons, which are now on the grounds of the Silesian Museum in Darkovičky. A firing embrasure obtained from a French museum was later fitted into the bunker, as was a second one from bunker OP-S 28.

The bunker is managed by the Opava Military History Club, founded in 1995, which has been reconstructing and equipping the bunker since 1998 to the state it was meant to have in 1938. The bunker has been a cultural monument since 2009.

The interior forms the club’s main exhibition: firing rooms with original weapons, a command room, observation posts for artillery observers, quarters for the 37-man garrison, a filter room and an engine room. According to the club, this is the first Czechoslovak fortress museum in which two complete L1 fortress cannons are installed in the firing rooms. In front of the bunker, anti-tank and anti-infantry obstacles are displayed, and from the roof slab there is a view of the line of other heavy fortification structures.
