Over het museum

The history of the museum begins on 14 April 1957. That day an enthusiastic lover of nature and history, Josef Čapek, found a first fragment of a 13th-century vessel near a spruce tree, now protected, below Ronovec. A week later a local history circle for Ronovec and the surrounding area was formed. Among the founding members were Josef Čapek senior and junior from Dolní Krupá, Miroslav Klouček from Břevnice, Jaroslav Karel from Havlíčkův Brod and Karel Kubera from Horní Krupá.

The circle held its first exhibition for the public on 15 June 1958 in the Lidová knihovna (People's Library), and it was well attended. For a long time the members worked purely out of enthusiasm, and they saved the remains of the masonry of Ronovec castle from complete collapse. The municipality of Dolní Krupá later provided a worthy place for the circle's collections.

Today the museum is established and run by the municipality and is housed in the chateau in Dolní Krupá, No. 1. It focuses on the local history of the village and its surroundings, and mainly displays archaeological finds from Ronovec castle. The core of the collections consists of objects found at Ronovec, later supplemented by documents from other monuments.
