White Gallery

Over het museum

The White Gallery stands on the edge of the village of Osík near Litomyšl, in a bend of the small river Desná. It was founded in 2010 on the initiative of Martin Janda, son of the artists Ludmila and František Jandová, as a depot and at the same time a presentation space for the lifelong work of painter and graphic artist Ludmila Jandová, who lived and worked in Osík. The gallery also houses extensive collections of prints by more than 300 artists with whom Ludmila Jandová was in contact.

The building is modern, white and strictly geometric, made of glass and reinforced concrete, and based on the “house within a house” concept. A team of experts led by architects Jiří Krejčík and Marek Tichý was involved in the design.

The gallery presents the works of Ludmila Jandová, including drawings, prints, oil paintings, pastels and other works on paper, which are being gradually digitised. Other artists also exhibit here during the year; according to the exhibition archive, these shows usually take place from June to October.
