Over het museum
The Bog Museum is part of the visitor centre of Island Turf Crafts, a firm in Coalisland, County Tyrone, that makes ornaments and gifts from turf. The company says its products use turf that was cut from bogs and processed into a range of ornaments, and the visitor centre shows how the bog and its materials were part of Irish life.
The museum displays old artefacts that tell about Ireland before and after the Ice Age, and a 20-minute film on a large screen shows a day in the bog. The visitor centre also includes an old weaving-factory museum, where the large looms still stand as they were left, XX.
Groups can book a guided tour of the three museums at the centre together with the film and a two-course dinner.
