Om museet
Since 2014, the Musée Cécile Sabourdy has presented exhibitions devoted to artistic practices that defy classification, in the former 17th-century presbytery of Vicq-sur-Breuilh. This public cultural cooperation body (EPCC) brings together a permanent collection and temporary exhibitions across three levels.
The project began in 2008, when the heirs of the Limousin collector and patron Henri de La Celle offered the municipality a major collection of naive art, including works by Cécile Sabourdy. The municipality seized the opportunity to renovate the presbytery and launch a regional development project.
The permanent collection focuses on naive, art brut and singular artists from Limousin. The temporary exhibitions bring self-taught and professional artists from different eras and regions into dialogue. The museum’s gardens feature sculptures and a green amphitheatre.
