Om museet
The Landsvirkjun energy exhibition is at the Ljósafossstöð power station on the Sog river and by Lake Úlfljótsvatn, about 50 minutes' drive from Reykjavík. The exhibition, which has the English title “Powering the Future”, is interactive and focuses on play and experience.
Visitors of all ages get to know the world of electricity and can, for example, generate energy with their own weight, strength and power. In the exhibition you can collect electrons, pump water into a reservoir, harness the wind and light up the world over 120 years. It also explains how Landsvirkjun generates all of its electricity from hydropower, geothermal energy and wind power.
The exhibition is open in summer and admission is free. It is closed for the winter 2026/27.
