Om museet
The collection of the Pfaffstätten Local History Museum goes back to Anton Knopp, the municipal secretary, who began gathering objects on local history in 1948. In 1950 it was housed in rooms of the town hall as the municipality's first museum.
In 1985 the museum received its present home: at the instigation of former mayor Johann Hösl, it was created from parts of a winegrower's house that had to make way for a road straightening. The building houses an old wine cellar and, according to the tourism portal, comprises eight rooms with around 280 square meters of exhibition space.
The main focuses are viticulture, tree resin extraction (Pecherei) and objects on church and local history, as well as fossil finds and club history. A special feature are the Matador construction kits, which were very well known in Austria.
