Om museet

The collection of the Swiss Shooting Museum has existed since 1885 and continues to grow. It includes trophies, flags, weapons, medals, cups and many other objects documenting the history of marksmanship. The museum is one of the few sports history museums in Switzerland and preserves the cultural heritage of a tradition that is still alive today.

The house on Bernastrasse, built in the Heimatstil, opened in 1939. In 2025 it was extensively renovated, and at the same time the long-standing permanent exhibition was created anew under the title "Gut in Schuss!". It presents shooting as one of the country's most popular sports, both as a mass sport and as an elite sport, and highlights the close connection between shooting culture and Swiss politics and history, as well as technical innovation, craftsmanship and living customs.

The house also holds the historical archive of the Swiss Shooting Association (Schweizerischer Schützenverein), today's Swiss Shooting Sport Federation, with holdings from 1824; it is open to researchers on request. The operator is the Stiftung Schweizer Schützenmuseum Bern, which is supported by the Swiss Shooting Sport Federation. The museum is part of Bern's Museum Quarter.
