The Centre d'Interpretació de l'Art Rupestre de les Muntanyes de Prades (CIAR) is part of the Museu Comarcal de la Conca de Barberà and is housed in the former new prison building of Montblanc. It was created as a reference point for the study and conservation of the prehistoric art of the Muntanyes de Prades, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998, and also for educational outreach to the public. It belongs to the Ruta del Arte Rupestre de Cataluña, designed by the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya.

The visit begins with a short audiovisual presentation and continues along a route of rooms with information panels, dioramas, copies and full-scale replicas of the rock shelters with paintings found in the Muntanyes de Prades. The narrative starts with the physical environment of the region and its geological history, moves on to human evolution and the need to create art, and then focuses on Levantine rock art in the Muntanyes de Prades.

The centre includes recreations of sites such as the Mas d'en Llort, the Portell de les Lletres, the Cova de les Creus, the Britus rock shelters and the Cova del Minaire. Other rooms broaden the view to the rock art of Catalonia, with sites such as the Roca dels Moros del Cogul and the Ulldecona shelters, and to its protection as heritage. A route through the prehistory of the Conca, from the Palaeolithic to the Metal Ages, includes encounters with Iberians, Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans.
