Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía

Om museet

The Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía (C3A) opened in December 2016 as the Córdoba seat of the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC). It was created to be a leading centre for artistic creation and production in Andalusia.

It occupies a building designed by the architects Nieto and Sobejano, brutalist in character and built on a hexagonal geometric pattern inspired by the Mezquita-Catedral of Córdoba. Its most distinctive feature is the media façade, a 100-metre-long screen with 1,319 hexagonal openings fitted with LED lamps, on which works by artists are projected from nightfall onwards.

Unlike other museums, the C3A focuses on the creative process: it has more than 1,000 m² of workshops and laboratories for artist residencies, a Caja Negra for performance and experimental music, and a programme of training and workshops for all audiences.
