The Rear (Zadní), or New, Synagogue in Třebíč was built around 1669, and its interior is decorated with paintings from the early 18th century. It was used for services until the 1920s, then as a leather store, and after the Second World War as a store for fruit and vegetables. Between 1989 and 1997 it underwent extensive reconstruction and then opened as a museum.

In the neighbouring house, built before 1798, a Jewish museum was later established. The Seligmann Bauer House shows how a Jewish family lived in the interwar period: on the ground floor there is a grocery shop, on the first floor a kitchen and a bedroom, and in the attic a lecture hall. In the women’s gallery of the synagogue, ritual objects are displayed, including a Torah scroll, along with a model of the Jewish quarter at a scale of 1:100 in its state of 1850.

In 2003 the Jewish quarter together with the Rear Synagogue was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Tours are arranged by the Městské kulturní středisko Třebíč (Town Cultural Centre Třebíč); longer routes also include the Jewish quarter and the Jewish cemetery.
