Om museet

The Amber Museum is located in the immediate vicinity of the spa administration in the health resort of Bad Füssing and is privately run. It was founded by Emmy Kuster (1937–2021), who had moved from Bavaria via the USA, most recently San Francisco, back to Germany. Today the house is run by Christine Moosbauer.

On about 80 square meters, of which about 15 are for sales, the exhibition tells the story of amber, from its formation in geology and biology, through its processing, to its role in cultural history. On display are jewelry pieces from the Bronze Age to the modern era, including objects from the imperial court in Peking, Tibetan and Muslim prayer beads, and a very large chess set made of amber.
