Om museet

The museum goes back to Ernst Freiberger senior, who became known as an ice cream manufacturer and was closely attached to his home municipality of Amerang. A Mercedes-Benz 540 K Cabriolet that his wife gave him for his retirement triggered an extensive passion for collecting: within a few years he gathered automotive rarities from all eras.

In 1990 he opened the "EFA Museum für Deutsche Automobilgeschichte" (EFA Museum of German Automotive History) in Amerang. Today the sponsor is the Ernst Freiberger-Stiftung, and the family carries on the legacy. After a fundamental redesign in 2018, the museum presents itself as "EFA Mobile Zeiten" with a multimedia exhibition.

The tour ranges from the first motor carriage through the luxury cars of the 1920s and 1930s and the small cars of the postwar period to classics of the 1970s and 1980s; another area is devoted to worldwide mass mobility. The entire collection comprises around 250 vehicles, many of which are in the vintage car depot, which is opened on tours. A special piece is the huge gauge II model railway, the founder's first collection.

Permanente udstillinger

• EFA Ausstellung – Multimedia journey through time through German automotive history from the first motor carriage to classics of the 1970s and 1980s, plus an area on worldwide mass mobility with a brightly decorated long-distance bus from Pakistan.
• Modelleisenbahn Spur II – About 650 meters of track on 500 square meters with a harbor facility, bridge, and quarry; the trains no longer run, to protect the models, but the layout can be viewed.
• Oldtimer-Depot – The depot holds around 250 vehicles from the collection; it is accessible only on tours.

Children's world with a Brio wooden train play table, an interactive game with "Karl the Beetle," a coloring corner, a search game at the model railway, and a dress-up box; puzzle rally for schoolchildren for a small fee. In front of the museum, a playground with a climbing frame in the shape of a 1930s vintage car and rocking animals for the little ones.

The exhibition can be booked exclusively for company and Christmas parties, private celebrations, weddings, presentations, and training sessions; the museum helps with catering and event technology.
