Om museet
The Eisenbahnfreunde Zollernbahn (EFZ) was founded in 1973 in Balingen by railway enthusiasts and named after the Zollernbahn line on which its founding site lies. In the founding year it already organized its first special excursion, using a steam locomotive rented from the Bundesbahn. In 1975 the association acquired its first own coach and its first locomotive, and from 1982 onward it regularly ran museum trips on lines of the Hohenzollerische Landesbahn.
The association is devoted to preserving historic railway vehicles, above all steam locomotives in as operational a condition as possible. Its base is the former Rottweil railway depot across from the station, to which it moved in the mid-2000s. The site serves as workshop, club headquarters and museum location at the same time.
Visitors see restored vehicles as well as ones still under restoration, including steam, diesel and railcar vehicles. Major events include the Rottweiler Dampftage (Rottweil Steam Days), with a vehicle display, tours of the depot, footplate rides and shuttle runs.

The railway depot is across from Rottweil station, only a few minutes' walk away.
On Steam Days a free shuttle train runs from Rottweil station to the site.
