Om museet
The fire brigade museum is located in the Reutlingen fire station on Hauffstraße and is run by the Reutlingen fire brigade. It shows the history and development of firefighting in Reutlingen and deliberately limits itself to items from the town itself.
More than 200 exhibits are displayed on eight theme islands: equipment, devices, clothing and documents. The range extends from the volunteer fire brigade to the modern professional fire brigade. Topics include breathing protection, fire brigade technology and equipment, and the path from uniform to protective clothing. Also on display are officers' helmets from the 19th century.
The museum is open only on individual dates announced in advance. Groups can arrange tours through the fire brigade's secretariat.
