Om museet

The Herpa Museum “World of Motion” is part of the headquarters of the miniature model maker Herpa in Dietenhofen, Franconia. The company was founded in 1949 by Wilhelm Hergenröther; in July 1965 the topping-out ceremony for the production halls was held in Dietenhofen. Today Herpa belongs to Prince Andreas zu Leiningen and employs around 200 people at its headquarters and at its plant in Hungary.

Following the model of large automobile museums, Herpa presents itself as the “largest automobile manufacturer in miniature format”. The exhibition shows numerous models from the Cars & Trucks and Wings ranges and traces the history of the brand, whose models have been available since 1978. Technical exhibits give a look behind the scenes of model development and production.

The museum has an attached museum shop, where collectors can find current models, leftover stock from sold-out series, accessories and parts for conversions. Museum and shop can be visited on special event Saturdays with changing promotions; once a year Herpa also holds an open day.
