Germany's only Picasso museum: around 800 prints by Picasso and temporary exhibitions on modern art in Münster's old town.

Studio exhibition bringing together prints from the museum's own holdings with ancient objects from the Archaeological Museum of the University of Münster.
At the heart of the museum is the collection of Gert Huizinga, a commercial artist from Lengerich, and his wife Jutta, who began systematically acquiring lithographs by Pablo Picasso in the early 1950s. Much of it had already been shown in 1981 – without the lenders being named – in a Picasso exhibition at the Westfälisches Landesmuseum in Münster. To keep the holdings together in the region, the savings banks of Westphalia-Lippe and Westdeutsche Landesbank set up a foundation together with the collector couple in 1997; Westfälische Provinzial joined in 2000.
On September 7, 2000, the museum opened as the Graphikmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster; it received its current name in 2010 to mark its tenth anniversary. It occupies two neighboring historic buildings on Königsstraße: the neoclassical Druffel'scher Hof, built in 1784–1788 to plans by Clemens August von Vagedes, and the neo-Baroque Hensenbau of 1910/11. The exhibition space covers around 600 square meters on two floors.
Since the museum's founding, the collection has grown from just over 700 to around 800 works by Picasso and includes almost his entire lithographic oeuvre. It also holds extensive groups of works by his contemporaries such as Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, and Joan Miró, as well as photographs showing Picasso in his studio. Because the light-sensitive works on paper cannot be displayed permanently, the museum shows only temporary exhibitions – some drawn from its own holdings, others with loans featuring modern artists.

Step-free access through a white door next to the outdoor staircase on Picassoplatz (ring the bell marked "Museumskasse"), elevator to the foyer. The elevator in the Münster Arkaden parking garage is out of service on Sundays and public holidays; accessible alternative access via Ludgeristraße. More details at muenster-barrierefrei.de.
