Om museet
The house on Marktstraße was built in 1786 as an inn. Later it served as a school and as the seat of municipal administration, before being converted into the city museum in 1984.
The permanent exhibition covers the prehistory and early history of Mühlheim am Main on about 150 square meters. Recent additions include finds from the Federmesser culture, among them a roughly 13,000-year-old blue pigment that is considered the oldest known blue in Europe. For schools, the city keeps a museum case with material on the Stone and Metal Ages.
