Om museet

The Museumshof of the Heimatverein Markt Roßtal e.V. (local heritage association) goes back to a collection begun in the early 1980s. It has grown to around 10,000 objects and documents the everyday culture of Roßtal and the neighboring villages from around 1800 to the present.

The themes range from living and household to crafts and trades, agriculture, customs and faith, and to special collections, for example on traditional costumes, toys, military items and the World Wars, as well as an archaeological collection. There are historical rooms and a life-cycle display case.

The collection is housed in a carefully restored historic building on Schulstraße. A monastery garden modeled on early medieval examples has been laid out on the grounds.
