Windmühle Anna
Masonry Dutch-style windmill from 1904/05 in Nübbel with a local history museum on agriculture, crafts, and village life on three levels.
Om museet
The Anna mill at the entrance to Nübbel was built in 1904/05 on the foundations of the wooden predecessor mill "Cäcilie," which had been built in 1859 and burned down in 1904. The octagonal Erd- und Kellerholländer (Dutch-style mill) is one of the few masonry windmills in Schleswig-Holstein and is the village's landmark. Until 1948 the wind drove the grinding mechanism, afterward a motor; operation ended in 1973 and the technical equipment was removed.
Since 1982 the mill has housed the village's local history museum. In 2005 the building passed to the Stiftung zur Erhaltung der Mühle Anna, and in 2017 it also took over the museum. From 2020 to 2023 the facade was extensively renovated; inside, damaged timbers were replaced and the electrical system renewed. A friends' association supports the volunteer work.
The exhibition is spread across three levels. At the bottom it is about housekeeping, agriculture, and tools from the mill operation. On the second floor follow a small school corner, woodworking tools, barber, baker, and shoemaker crafts, as well as a kitchen, parlor, and bedroom from the period of about 1900 to 1950. The third floor belongs to the fire department, supplemented by items on beekeeping, flax breaking, and rope making.
