About the museum
Anton Bruckner lived in Kronstorf from 1843 to 1845 as a teacher's assistant and organist. His room on the first floor of the then school building measures only about six square metres, and yet by his own account he felt "as if in heaven" there. In the surrounding area he found friends and patrons; his teacher Zenetti in Enns, St. Florian and Steyr were not far away.
The former schoolhouse was used as a school until 1890. For the Bruckner Year 2024 the room was restaged and reopened on 27 April 2024 as part of the first OÖ KulturEXPO as the "smallest Bruckner museum in the world in an original living space".
The centrepiece is Bruckner's original violin, with which he also played for dances in inns such as the Gasthof Rahofer, which still exists today. The exhibition also tells the history of the school, shows furniture from Kronstorf and gives an overview of Bruckner's life in Kronstorf.
