About the museum

The Mohren Brewery goes back to an inn with its own brewery that Johann Mohr ran in Dornbirn in the 18th century and named "Zum Mohren" after his family name. On 1 May 1834 the Huber family took over the business; it still runs the brewery today under the old name and counts it among the oldest family-run breweries in Vorarlberg.

In October 2016, after about a year and a half of construction, the company opened the Mohren Biererlebniswelt (Beer Experience World) in the original brewery building on Dr.-Waibel-Straße. The museum spans four floors and more than 700 square metres; the tour leads from the attic down to the cellar. Objects from the extensive collection of the owner family are on display, including barrels, bottles, glasses, promotional items and old brewing tools, complemented by films and media stations.

The centrepiece is the brewing plant of the former Schäfle inn brewery in Satteins. It was built in the 19th century, remained in operation until 1917 and was acquired in 1989 by Heinz Huber; it was elaborately restored for the museum. At a beer configurator, guests can find out their preferred beer style, and at the end a drink awaits at the museum bar.

The Erlebniswelt also includes a Creativ Brauerei for brewing courses, the shop "s'Lädele" with beer specialities, and event spaces in the historic brewing cellar and on the roof terrace.
