About the museum
The house on Hauptstraße in Großriedenthal was originally a knight's estate and was remodeled in the Renaissance style in the 16th century. It was later run as a large farm. Since the building was hardly touched by modernization, much of the old fabric has been preserved.
In the early 1990s the Perlaki family acquired the old farm, renovated and restored it, and set up the Museum der einfachen Dinge there. It shows everyday objects from rural life in earlier times: household and work implements, clothing and furniture.
The museum is privately run and is listed in the museum directory of the Museumsmanagement Niederösterreich (Lower Austria museum management). Visits are possible all year round after a telephone appointment.
