About the museum
The museum was set up in 1991/92 under the direction of local history researcher Otto Leitgeb. Former employees of the works and the artist Werner Hofmeister helped. It is housed in the former Portland cement kiln building from 1894 on the grounds of the Wietersdorf cement works.
The exhibition is devoted to the history of the works and roughly one hundred years of cement production. In addition, there is a reconstruction of a Celtic iron furnace and fossil finds from the surrounding area, for example from the nearby Pemberg and Sittenberg.
