About the museum

Biercentrum De Lambiek in Alsemberg, a sub-municipality of Beersel, is described as the first visitor centre in the world for geuze and lambic. It opened in 2011 on the initiative of the municipality of Beersel, Toerisme Vlaanderen, Toerisme Vlaams-Brabant and HORAL, the Hoge Raad voor Ambachtelijke Lambiekbieren (High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers).

Visitors discover how lambic is brewed, how geuze is blended by hand and what role these beers play in the region. In the exhibition space each brewery and blender of HORAL has its own display case; in two hollowed-out foeders (oak vats) you can hear the sounds of the brewing process. An individual visit consists of the exhibition, a film about the brewing process and a free tasting glass of lambic beer.

The centre is also the starting point of the Lambiek walks, the yellow and the green route.
