About the museum
The Chemin de Fer de Sprimont (C.F.S.) is a non-profit association that has been gathering historic equipment since 1981: locomotives, wagons and local-line buses. It occupies part of the former Poulseur–Sprimont–Trooz local tram line and presents itself as a living museum of railway, mining and quarry industrial archaeology, on a 60 cm gauge track.
The idea is to show the equipment in motion rather than standing still. Visitors discover the Espace Muséal, housed in former municipal workshops, and then take the narrow-gauge train between Damré “Station” and the Redoute, with a visit to the depot. A 1933 open-platform bus links the former power station of Sprimont, now the Centre d’Interprétation de la Pierre (stone interpretation centre), with the Damré site.
The association also offers circuits by a 1976 local bus to other museums in the valley, such as the Musée du Pays d’Ourthe-Amblève in Comblain-au-Pont. A steam locomotive, maintained by volunteers, only runs on certain days.
