About the museum
The Val Saint Lambert crystal works, founded in 1826, has left its mark on the industrial, artistic and social history of the Seraing region and well beyond. Its products adorned tables, palaces and world exhibitions. The site, on the Esplanade du Val, today houses both the crystal works, which keeps traditional craftsmanship alive, and a museum dedicated to its history.
The museum, run by the Syndicat d'initiative de Seraing (local tourist office), presents the artistic development of the house through older pieces by the great designers who have made Val Saint Lambert famous since the 19th century. An immersive, contemporary trail explains the origin of glassmaking and the history of the site, using light, sound and images.
In 2026, for the bicentenary, the existing exhibition and trail were entirely refreshed and the immersive trail reopened. The exhibition “Cristal Vivant”, opened on 10 April 2026, places heritage pieces alongside contemporary creations made with the asbl Spray Can Arts. Visitors can also watch glass-blowing demonstrations in the crystal works' workshop.
