About the museum
The Lampenmuseum in Geel grew out of the passion of the Binnemans family. It began with the discovery of an old bicycle carbide lamp in a rubbish bin and grew into a substantial lamp collection. There are more than a thousand lamps in a cosy, homely atmosphere.
Aladdin's magic lamp is missing, but the collection does show how people have provided themselves with light over time. You visit the museum with a guided tour of about an hour, individually or in a group, always by appointment.
