About the museum
Where the Worfthoeve once stood, one of the oldest farms in Geel-Ten Aard, the Bakkerijmuseum now stands. The name Worfthoeve refers to the willow (worft). The museum was set up by Willy Goossens, a former baker, and is situated close to the Molen van 't Veld. After its driving force died, the museum closed in summer 2015. In April 2018 it reopened after three years of closure.
The collection shows objects from the Campine baking trade: waffle irons, bread stamps, host irons and moulds for ice cream, chocolate, marzipan and speculaas. In the barn stand old carts and vehicles with which grain was transported to the mill and flour to the bakery.
What makes the collection special is the bakehouse with all kinds of authentic bakery machines. Since 2022 the Geels Brouwerijmuseum (Geel Brewery Museum) has also been housed on the same site.
