About the museum
The Maison du Pays des Collines in Ellezelles was housed in the former municipal school. Its multimedia route presented the Pays des Collines region: its hilly landscape, history, trades, traditions and folklore. The museum had been expanded in 2000 and its route renewed. The house is also the information point for the Sentier de l'Étrange, the walk marked out with sculptures by the artist Watkyne.
The building is undergoing major transformation: it has been largely dismantled to be rebuilt under the name Maison vivante du Pays des Collines (Living House of the Pays des Collines). According to the announced plans, the ground floor will host workshops and the upper floor temporary exhibitions. The opening of the new house has been announced, but no date has been confirmed so far.
