About the museum
The Maison du Site Minier is a former house dating from 1645. Its ground floor houses an interpretation centre that traces the history of Plombières and its nature reserve, linked to lead and zinc mining. The tourist office of the municipality of Plombières is also located here.
Two waymarked walks of 1.7 km and 3 km allow you to discover, across 25 hectares, the fauna and flora specific to the presence of lead, zinc and heavy metals in the soil. Twelve information stations evoke the mining past; each is marked by a foundry residue (culot de fonderie), a relic of this history, and an information panel in three languages.
Next door, a recreational, sports and leisure area is open to all ages. Individual visitors may visit freely at any time, and guided tours are offered to groups on request.
