About the museum
The Dorfgeschichtliche Sammlung (village history collection) is housed in the village house of Lontzen, in the middle of the village in front of St. Hubertus church. It is run by the Verkehrs- und Verschönerungsverein Lontzen (VVL) together with the Verkehrsverein Herbesthal.
The collection gathers everything that has accompanied the citizens of the municipality of Lontzen throughout their lives, both private items and objects used at work. Its thematic focuses, besides contemporary events, are mining, agriculture and club life.
A separate room is dedicated to the former Lontzen-Herbesthal station and displays, among other things, original parts of the station building, which no longer exists. The collection also holds an extensive library on local history, which can be consulted on site or borrowed for a limited period.
