About the museum
The Maison du Terroir – Musée de Moresnet opened in 1999 in the former farrier’s workshop of 1638, in the centre of the village of Moresnet (municipality of Plombières). This small local museum invites visitors to discover the history, the activities of times past and the various aspects of the cultural and social life of Moresnet and its region.
A permanent exhibition traces the turbulent history of the Moresnet railway viaduct, from its construction in 1914, through its successive destruction during the war of 1940-1945, to its complete renovation finished in 2004. The museum is run by the asbl Maison du Terroir and presented by the Syndicat d’initiative des Trois Frontières.
