House and studio of artist Panamarenko in the Seefhoek district of Antwerp, only accessible on a guided tour on Saturdays.

Opening hoursAdmission €25

About the museum

Artist Panamarenko lived and worked from 1970 to 2002 in Biekorfstraat in the Antwerp Seefhoek district, in the building where his mother once ran a shoe shop. Much of his oeuvre, with flying machines, floating constructions and helicopters, came into being here.

In 2007 he donated the house, together with its entire contents, to the Flemish Community. Management went to M HKA, the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp. From 2009 the contents of the studio were inventoried and conserved, after which everything was put back in the original home.

Typical of the house are the glass loggia spanning the full width of the façade (about ten metres), which served as a workroom and winter garden, and the helicopter platform on the roof, installed in 2011. The artist's signature hangs as neon letters against the front façade. Panamarenko died at the end of 2019. In 2024 the Flemish government started the procedure to protect the house as a monument.
