About the museum
The Volkskundemuseum Jan Augustijns in Wuustwezel grew out of the private collection of Jan Augustijns. He was himself the son of a wheelwright and had a special passion for wheelwrighting. His collection of carts and wagons, many of which were made by his father, is therefore remarkable. The former wheelwright's workshop itself was also completely rebuilt.
Alongside the wheelwright's trade, the museum shows many other crafts, including a shoemaker's workshop, a miller's workshop, a brewery, a cooper's tools and the hat-making workshop of Wiske Peeters. Jan Augustijns died in 2016.
