About the museum
The gallery was founded in 2009 by the antiquarian, artist and musician Pavel R. Vejrážka. It bears the name of the poet and artist Emil Juliš, who was a friend of Vejrážka. It is located in Černčice near Louny, in a building that previously served as a primary school.
The gallery is private and focuses on Czech fine art of the 20th and 21st centuries, especially work close to surrealism. It also provides space for artists from Louny. In its first years it cooperated with the Africanist Marie Imbrová, and it therefore also presented contemporary African art. Among the exhibited artists were, for example, Martin Stejskal, Václav Jíra, Přemysl Martinec, Zdeněk Veselý and Cyril Bouda.
A special place in the collection is held by the collages of Emil Juliš. In recent years the gallery has held around one to two exhibitions a year, with openings mainly in autumn. Visits must be arranged in advance by phone or email.
