About the museum
The idea of setting up a small fire-fighting museum in Číhošť arose in 2011. The museum is housed in the former fire station and opened in 2012. It is run by the Číhošť Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Its main exhibit is a horse-drawn single-jet four-wheeled pump made by the firm Smekal, which the brigade acquired in 1898 for 1,440 zlatých. Its restoration began in 2010; the pump was taken apart, repaired and blessed again on 26 May 2012, right in the centre of the Czech Republic. Today it works, and in operation it is drawn by a pair of horses.
Also on display is the motor pump Mára from 1938, bought for 16,000 Kčs and restored again in 2012, as well as period uniforms, fire-brigade banners and other fire-fighting equipment.
