About the museum
The museum is run by the Veterán Tatra klub Bystřice nad Pernštejnem, which was founded and led for almost its whole life by František Prosecký († 2023). The collection is housed in the premises of the former Bystřice distillery, not far from the town centre; visitors enter from Na Vyhlídce street. The club looks after historic Tatra vehicles and makes them accessible to the public in the depot.
The exhibition includes about forty period vehicles, among them Tatra passenger cars and lorries, Jawa and ČZ motorcycles, bicycles and other period objects, from toys to model cars. The collection gives a picture of life in Czechoslovakia from the 1920s to the 1980s. Part of the depot is also a collection of small motorcycles, which was originally presented from 2006 by the separate Malé muzeum malých motocyklů in Kostelní street. It focused on motorcycles with small engines, especially 50 cc machines. The most interesting exhibits include the Jawa 634 police motorcycle and the oldest machine, the French Alcyon from 1924 to 1939.
The club takes its vehicles to veteran gatherings in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia, and every August it holds the Memorial of the Františeks Prosecký in Masaryk Square in Bystřice.
