About the museum
The museum presents part of the collection of the composer, collector and lover of Chod folk culture Jindřich Jindřich. From the end of the First World War he built up a private museum; in 1945 he donated the collection to the town of Domažlice, and in 1972 it was opened to the public as part of the Chod Museum (Muzeum Chodska).
The collection comprises about 9,000 objects. On display are ceramics, folk furniture, costumes and an important collection of folk paintings on glass. Visitors can also see the composer’s faithfully furnished study, where they can listen to some of his compositions, and a section on the development of folklore and traditions up to the present day.
The museum is housed in a Classicist building on Husova třída, which reopened in spring 2016 after a complete reconstruction. The Galerie bratří Špillarů (Špillar Brothers Gallery) is also located there.
