About the museum
The museum building was constructed in 1840 and originally served as a cottager's house (vejminek) and grain store with a place for a carriage. The major village fire of 1901 did not damage it, and it has survived almost in its original form, which makes it architecturally valuable.
The motorcycle museum opened on 1 April 2008 and initially showed 40 motorcycles. The number of machines on display gradually grew to more than one hundred. It is run by the Motogalerie Šestajovice association.
In 2010 a toy exhibition covering the years 1895 to 1975 was added. It found a place in a newly reconstructed granary (špýchar) from the first half of the 19th century. Visitors can thus see side by side Czechoslovak motorcycles from 1934 to 2004, with a focus on competition, speedway and motocross machines, and children's toys, prams and dolls of earlier generations. The museum also buys items connected with motoring and toys in order to expand its collections.
