About the museum

The idea for a Prague beer museum was born in 2010, and the first exhibition opened in 2013. In 2023 the museum moved to a larger space in the house at Husova 21 in Staré Město (Old Town), near Karlův most (Charles Bridge) and Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square).

The current exhibition occupies three floors and medieval cellars from the 13th century. Visitors walk through Czech beer history, from monastery brewing to the pubs of the communist era. The tour is accompanied by the audio guide “Cabinet of Wonders” in eleven languages, interactive exhibits and video presentations; there is also a model of a brewery and the chance to smell the hops and barley.

The core of the visit is a tasting of Czech craft beers, which takes place at the reception and in the cellar Pivní kaple (Beer Chapel). The museum is run by the company New element s.r.o. and also offers a version of admission without beer.
