About the museum

The Modrý pokoj (Blue Room) was the private living room of composer Jaroslav Ježek (1906–1942), where he lived and worked. Its furniture from the early 1930s is in the functionalist style and was designed by architect František Zelenka, who also created stage sets for the Osvobozené divadlo (Liberated Theatre), with which Ježek was closely associated.

The room is now managed by the České muzeum hudby (Czech Museum of Music) of the National Museum as the Památník Jaroslava Ježka (Jaroslav Ježek Memorial). The permanent exhibition presents the unique Blue Room, where the composer lived and his works came into being. The visit is short and intimate: groups are limited to seven people, and the museum does not offer guided educational programmes.
