About the museum
The Muzeum Rosice nad Labem is run by the Pardubice Association for the History of Railway Transport, founded in 1990. The association formally opened the permanent railway exhibition on 14 September 2001 and extended it from 1 June 2002. The museum is housed in the former waterworks building at Rosice nad Labem railway station.
The waterworks was built in 1871 when the line from Rosice nad Labem to Havlíčkův Brod was constructed, but its machinery was delivered late and the building was only approved in 1873. In the centre stood the engine house with a steam engine and pump, on the first floor were two water tanks, and the side wings housed the offices and the engine driver's flat. The building is a listed cultural monument, and in 2011 its plaster was repaired with support from the Pardubice Region.
Today visitors find around seven hundred exhibits and documents on the history of railways and urban transport, mainly from the Pardubice Region, in six rooms and on the outdoor area. Historic rail vehicles stand in front of the museum, and on suitable occasions a LGB garden railway is also operated. The museum is run by volunteers in their free time, so opening hours are limited to the season and to agreed visits.

Getting there & parking
By public transit
Rosice, pošta
The simplest way is by train: all trains from Pardubice via Rosice nad Labem run towards Hradec Králové and Chrudim, and express trains also stop here. After getting off at Rosice nad Labem station, the museum is about 100 metres away, to the right of the station building, past the first track. Public transport: the nearest stop is Rosice, pošta (bus lines 9 and 19); a better connection is to the stop Polabiny, Sluneční and then on foot.
Rosice nad Labem station lies by the main road I/37; coming from Chrudim you cross the overpass, and coming from Hradec Králové you turn onto the parallel road towards Rosice.
