About the museum

The Baroque hospital on the southern edge of Zlonice was reconstructed in 1954 and converted into the Antonín Dvořák Memorial. Its furnishings were acquired gradually from the storerooms of other heritage sites, from the Czech Music Fund and from private donors. As a young man, Dvořák studied in Zlonice under the local teacher Antonín Liehmann, who nurtured his musical talent.

In 1984 the adjacent church building, the so-called Varhaníkovna, was opened to the public with an exhibition about Antonín Liehmann. Since 1994 the former classroom in the annex has housed the memorial room of Eduard Ingriš, a native of Zlonice, composer, traveller and seafarer, who had lived in the United States since 1947.

The memorial is run by the Vlastivědný kroužek Zlonicka (Zlonice Local History Circle). The premises are also used for concerts, wedding ceremonies, exhibitions and other cultural events.
