About the museum
The memorial room is dedicated to Jaroslav Fraňek (1897–1943), a native of Nezabudice. He was a legionary and was wounded at the Battle of Zborov; later he built the inn U Rozvědčíka by the Berounka river, which became a popular destination for hikers. During the Second World War he joined the anti-Nazi resistance, hid weapons, and on 1 July 1943 he was executed by the Nazis.
The idea for a memorial room was born in 1997, when a commemorative plaque was unveiled on the former inn. The room was opened in 1998 in the building of the municipal office and is one of the branches of the T. G. M. Museum Rakovník. The exhibition consists of objects from Fraňek’s estate, part of his correspondence including his last letter before the execution, and finds from the site of the former Rozvědčík kiosk. In 2024 a small stone chapel in the shape of a horseshoe was ceremonially unveiled.
